YEAR 12 15th March..SATIRE.RESOURCES..COMEDY and social commentary...

In the last lesson I made reference to CHRIS MORRIS and the series BRASS EYE. Below is a link to an episode from 2001 titled Paedogeddan. The Daily Mail asked the question 'IS THIS THE SICKEST  TV SHOW EVER?' after this show was broadcast on Channel Four. The whole point of this episode was to satirically attack the media for their grotesque misrepresentation of the threat to children in the UK. Morris was angered by the MORAL PANIC being created by the British media. The Daily Mail failed to perceive the irony being used by Morris and the satirical nature of BRASS EYE.

SATIRE is defined as the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. MORRIS follows the tradition of British satire that links to the work of Dickens.
HARD TIMES IS A WORK OF SATIRE.
